Clay Pigeon Shooting in Devon

Welcome to our website

You see the clay pigeon flash in front of your eyes… swing the gun… then pull the trigger, and the target is reduced to dust! If you are looking for an exhilarating sport, then clay pigeon shooting is for you!

Here at Shalden Shooting School near Tiverton, we give shooting lessons to suit both clay shots and game shots and cater for shooters of all levels, whether you are a complete novice interested in lessons, or someone who is highly experienced and wants to further refine their skills.

The coaching we provide is tailored to your specific requirements, and what we cover will depend upon your level of previous experience. Most of the lessons we give are done on a one to one basis but we also offer shared lessons if you would like to learn with a friend. We are known for the unhurried and personal approach we apply.

We have a selection of guns to enable almost anyone to shoot comfortably, which is particularly important for ladies and younger shots who are often put off of clay shooting by using unsuitable guns. Once you have your own gun we are also able to arrange gun fitting which will further improve your shooting and comfort.

Many of you will have known Rod Brammer who started the shooting school. You might not know he also wrote books. He was working on this one when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2011 and sadly wasn’t able to see it through. It’s a 12 month look at life in the countryside, with tales from the past and various characters, wildlife and country sports along the way. Available on Amazon in paperback and kindle versions .

A blast from the past, you may not know a series of clays shooting videos were made here years ago. A view of how the shooting ground used to look before it was planted with trees.

First simulated game day since lock down today (not the one in the picture, I forgot to take photos!). A new team to us who were clearly out to enjoy themselves made it a good day for everyone involved. The covid precautions didn't spoil the fun, not even the weather could do that.

First shooting here since the start of the lock down this afternoon. We feel the current covid-19 guidelines make it impossible to offer tuition or simulated days, but hopefully this will change soon. In the meantime, we are offering the private use of our ground for groups of up to 5 experienced shots, for practice rounds of 100 clays. Message on Facebook or email through the website for more information.
