Young Shots Shooting Lessons

We run shooting lessons for younger shots from the age of 10 years upwards. The exact age to start shooting lessons is more a matter of size and strength, but we find 10-12 years is usually about right.

Younger shots are easily put off if they find shooting uncomfortable. We have guns in a range of sizes, including some very small ones, so we can always find something suitable.

Young shots are also easily demoralised if they do not succeed in hitting targets quickly, so we have some fairly straight forward targets we can use to get them started. In the early days, an occasional lesson keeps the interest alive, but as younger shots gain confidence and the strength to use slightly larger guns, we can move on covering all of the same content as we would in lessons for adults.

Getting the basics right from the start, sets up a younger shot for life both in terms of technique and safety.

As an alternative to lessons, our taster sessions described in the groups and parties pages offer the chance for a small group of younger shots to try their hand at shooting before starting lessons.
