One to One Clay Shooting Lessons

Lessons are tailored to the ability of the pupil and the type of shooting they intend to do in the future. The range of traps and targets we have available, means we can always find something to benefit anyone from complete beginners to experienced clay and game shots.

A one to one lesson will usually include around an hour of shooting but additional time is also spent in our gun room answering questions and talking around the subject.

Shooting Lessons for Novice Shots

We take those with little or no experience of clay shooting through a structured course of lessons, starting with relatively straight forward targets to work on basic technique before progressing through clays presented at a variety of angles.

After the first few lessons, you will have covered how to shoot clays at a few different angles and be familiar with safe handling of the gun. We then start to look more specifically at the targets and other points relevant to the specific type of shooting (sporting clays, game, etc.) you intend to pursue.

Safety is taught rigorously and this is done in a gradual manner. In your early lessons, hitting the targets is difficult enough so your instructor takes total charge of safety. As you become more competent, more control of the gun and responsibility for safety is handed over as each of the safety points and procedures are taught.

Our practice rounds and simulated game days offer a next stage for you to test out your new skill.

Game Shots Shooting Lessons

For experienced game shots, we have targets to simulate many of the types of shots you would be presented with in a real game shooting situation, whether your chosen quarry are pheasants, partridges, ducks or grouse.

Many of our game shooting clients, use a lesson or two with us at the beginning of the season as a warm up and to get their eye in.

A lesson on these targets can also be used to find and improve on a weakness or simply to make progress on to more challenging targets. The clay traps used for our simulated game days can be used during lessons to present sequences of challenging targets, potentially showing up faults and demonstrating what will happen to your shooting when the situation is more exciting!

Clay Shots Shooting Lessons

For the more experienced clay shooter we have a range of sporting targets. We will also try to set up targets for our clients if they describe one which has caused them problems elsewhere. The clay traps are easily adjusted allowing us to create something bespoke at request.

We will usually start a lesson by looking at basic technique, to make sure nothing fundamental is causing problems. From there, we either concentrate on particular problem targets, or shoot over a course of targets to discover where any issues occur. In either case, there are usually targets or exercises we can use to help.

The same targets used in lessons, can also be used for 100 clay practice sessions without instruction.
